The Meaning of the "Ten of Pentacles" Tarot Card

(Applies to the upright position)

The Symbolism of the Tarot Card:

The ten pentacles of the card's name are arranged in a manner similar to the Kaballah's Tree of Life. Each sphere (or in this case, pentacle) on the Tree represents a different plane of existence. A noble's family scene dominates the rest of the card, with the patriarch/grandfather on the right, and the family and their dogs cavorting. The Tower from the Tower card may be seen on the right of the card on the archway. The grandfather looks on, satisfied that his labors have borne fruit.

The Meaning of the Tarot Card:

While the Tree encompasses many elements of the Tarot, its use here is to show that all the accumulated wealth of the card originated firmly in Earth, or the bottom sphere of the Tree, Malkuth. A solid grounding brings a solid result - the card embodies the achievement and maintenance of material wealth, and the good things that this brings to one's family. The deeper significance of the appearance of the Tower card represents the sacrifices required to obtain this kind of happiness - the Patriarch in the scene is very old, perhaps too old to enjoy the fruits of his labors. All in all, the achievement of material bliss and all the good things that accompany it.
