The Meaning of the "Nine of Swords" Tarot Card

(Applies to the upright position)

The Symbolism of the Tarot Card:

A man or woman sits up in bed, head in hands, obviously anxious. Nine swords are lined up and seem to be hanging over their head, piercing their spirit rather than body. Roses and zodiac symbols decorate the quilt lying over the legs of the individual in the card. The carved scene and construction of the bed make it look more like a slab in a tomb than a bed.

The Meaning of the Tarot Card:

Imaginary fears. Night terrors. Paranoia. Anxiety. Anything that could keep you up at night. Like the Ten, the Nine of Swords is also a signal for reassessment of the individual's situation - perhaps it is time to change careers or relationships if so much stress is being experienced that it is detrimental to one's health. This is also a card of death, but more of a death of spirit than a physical death. The individual has been deeply wounded by something. Miscarriage, disappointment. The individual is imprisoned and limited by their own fear. Also conspiracy and betrayal, whether real or imagined.
