Water Water
Fire Heaven

The initial hexagram #29 is composed of the upper trigram of Water positioned above a matching lower trigram of Water.

The second transformed hexagram, #14, is built from a new, changed upper trigram of Fire positioned above a new, changed lower trigram of Heaven.

The starting hexagram #29:
"Pitfalls"

The meaning of hexagram #29

Dangers and challenges are indicated in this unwelcome hexagram. Faith and connection to others are your lifelines during this doubly dangerous time. Confront all dangers headfirst. Summon your strength and rise to the call. This is a time to take charge. Don't run away from yourself or your problems. To give up at this time may prove disastrous.

The changing lines between hexagram 29 and hexagram 14

Changing line #1

"Falling into an Abyss"- Any attempt to fight what is happening could make the situation worse. True surrender is your savior. Resistance is futile. Ride out the current bad situation and soon it will be over.

Changing line #3

"The Power of Waiting"- Stay put. Don't act one way or the other. Herein lies your strength.

Changing line #4

"The Power of Sincerity"- This line is a reminder to keep things simple and pure. With honest intentions, you will see an open window and let more light in to the situation

Changing line #5

"The Path of Least Resistance"- Though there is still danger, all is not lost. Don't make your goals too lofty. Stay with what is most immediate. Find the path with the fewest obstacles and soon the peril will diminish

Changing line #6

"Imprisonment"- The shackles you wear have grown tight. Come to grips with what is happening. Within three years time the light will shine brightly again

The future hexagram #14:
"Plenty"

The meaning of hexagram #14

This hexagram which is literally read to mean "Fire in the Heavens" symbolizes the life-giving "Sun". The Sun is the source of all wealth and abundance and references a time of prosperity and plenty. With abundance comes the power to do great things and to create positive change. At the same time, the Sun carries a warning not to create waste, or to use this time of plenty for personal gluttony. An abundance of something is coming your way. Use it wisely. Also: Early mornings bring success.
