Thunder Wind
Mountain Earth

The beginning hexagram #32 breaks down into the upper trigram of Thunder on top of the lower trigram of Wind.

The successive changed hexagram, #23, deconstructs into a transformed upper trigram of Mountain on top of a transformed lower trigram of Earth.

The starting hexagram #32:
"Permanence"

The meaning of hexagram #32

This hexagram points to the importance of stability and constancy. In the same way that thunder and lightning have always been together, the wise person seeks unions that are forever. Keep an optimistic outlook and your friendships/partnerships will endure and succeed. Simultaneously, you must access a sense of stability inside yourself. Like the constellations in the sky, everything in life moves as an integrated whole. Discovering this integration - by which everyone and everything in the Universe are connected -will put you in touch with stability and the power of permanence.

The changing lines between hexagram 32 and hexagram 23

Changing line #2

"Dropping Remorse"- If something was not meant to last, let it go. Put aside regret and start afresh.

Changing line #3

"Separating from Moods"- This line is a reminder that moods pass through you, but they are not truly what you are. You live through your moods. There is solace to be found by accessing a sense of permanency deep inside you. The wise person ignores the ups and downs of their moods and seeks to feel and identify with a deeper permanency inside. Genuine stability can be found by trusting the intuitive, quiet voice within your heart

Changing line #4

"Seeking Worthy Support"- There is no sense in looking for permanency from something which does not feed your soul. If a contact or relationship does not support your higher purposes, let it dissolve.

Changing line #6

"Allowing Inner Composure"- When restlessness governs a relationship or partnership, it is unlikely to last. By taking the time to gain inner composure, relationships will flourish and endure

The future hexagram #23:
"Splitting Apart"

The meaning of hexagram #23

Peeling away, implosion and crumbling down are indicated in this serious hexagram. It is not a time to take new actions or purposely change course. Instead, let change happen through surrender. When the Earth's energy erupts, all one can do is get out of the way and accept this force. Stay alert and conscious. The wise person sees this as an opportunity to shed outdated thoughts, feelings and concerns. Destruction sometimes has value.
