Lake Heaven
Thunder Lake

The beginning hexagram #43 breaks down into the upper trigram of Lake above the lower trigram of Heaven.

The successive changed hexagram, #54, is built from a new, changed upper trigram of Thunder above a new, changed lower trigram of Lake.

The starting hexagram #43:
"Breaking Through"

The meaning of hexagram #43

Pressure has been building for some time. Now, like water cracking and bursting through a dam, old restraints are being broken. The river overflows the dam. The truthful finally cast aside the untrue. Tension gives way to motion. Powerful action has been a long time coming. The influences of those who are beneath you suddenly mean very little. A cloudburst. The months of April and May may have special significance to this hexagram.

The changing lines between hexagram 43 and hexagram 54

Changing line #3

"Severing Ties"- Be willing to walk alone if others do not share your cause. If someone does remain by your side who does not share your vision, you must find a way to avoid participation in their negative mindset. Cut yourself off from their negativity by listening to your own positive voice. Turn attention inward, not outward, and you will vanquish problems

Changing line #5

"Weeding the Garden"- Just as weeds continually rear up again and again, so to do difficult people in your life. This is a time to be resolute in your actions. If you feel it is best to let someone go from your life, do so.

The future hexagram #54:
"Disaffection"

The meaning of hexagram #54

This hexagram indicates growing distances from one's romantic partners or comrades. But simultaneously it shines light on the path back to romance and love: Kindness and communication. Kindness and communication are the unifying forces in the world. You will be given the opportunity to direct your affection toward someone you previously distanced yourself from, and so re-create a stronger bond with them. Another indication here is that of exclusion from a larger circle of friends -- be conscious of your connections with others at this time. Move forward with integrity and don't form relationships out of convenience or formality.
