Lake Water
Water Earth

The initial hexagram #47 breaks down into the upper trigram of Lake over the lower trigram of Water.

The successive changed hexagram, #8, is built from a transitioned upper trigram of Water over a transitioned lower trigram of Earth.

The starting hexagram #47:
"Exhaustion"

The meaning of hexagram #47

Oppression and feelings of constraint are the qualities embodied by this foreboding hexagram. This is a time when you may not be taken seriously and may grow weary of such treatment. Others may try to smother you or keep you trapped into playing an old role. It is a time of oppression. But fear not. The challenges will make you a better person. By accessing an inner sense of stability it is possible to stay cheerful in these trying times, and you will then tap into an inner sense of boundless energy. You don't need many words at this time. Honor the silent knowing deep within and you will come through with renewed vigor.

The changing lines between hexagram 47 and hexagram 8

Changing line #2

"Escaping Inner Oppression"- All is well on the outer level. But inside you are still likely to feel oppressed at this time. Patience, community, optimism and spiritual connection are the keys to this difficult time.

Changing line #4

"The Chariot of Oppression"- You are riding through a difficult time. Wait patiently and assistance will arrive.

The future hexagram #8:
"Union"

The meaning of hexagram #8

This hexagram represents the binding force, or commitments that exist between two people or organizations. Through union we become more powerful and yet we must also remember that to some extent we become less free. Strong commitment and authority is required, but so is a letting go of personal desires for the sake of the greater good. Union is an agreement and a blessing. It is a force for strength, but it must also be nurtured and protected. A union that is not defended will eventually shatter.
