The beginning hexagram #60 is composed of the upper trigram of Water on top of the lower trigram of Lake.
The following completed hexagram, #2, is composed of a newly transformed upper trigram of Earth on top of a newly transformed lower trigram of Earth.
The starting hexagram #60:
The meaning of hexagram #60
This hexagram is a reminder of boundaries and edges. It implies containment and conservation of funds and energies. Financially, this is a time to tighten your belt. Health wise, this is a time to respect the limits of health and safety. Romance wise, this is a time to recognize the boundaries and limits that others set. Discover your line in the sand. Be conservative in your affairs and the doors to success will stay open. Just as the shore gives shape to a lake, so also do limits and boundaries give shape to your life. Know these lines, and what is within them will grow in power and meaning.
The changing lines between hexagram 60 and hexagram 2
Changing line #1
"Staying Indoors"- This is not a time to over-stretch and challenge yourself. Gather your energy and act with discretion.
Changing line #2
"Staying Inside the Gate"- To go out the door and then stop before going beyond the gate means to take action at precisely the right time and in the right measure. Wait until you see the golden opportunity, act at once, and then stop without going too far.
Changing line #5
"Incurring Equal Limitations"- The wise person will only place limits on others that they themselves can uphold. To level the playing field at this time will bring great success.
The future hexagram #2:
The meaning of hexagram #2
The Receptive is the hexagram denoting "devotion" and the spirit of the Earth. Fertile ground is required for creation. The hexagram of "the receptive" often has a strong female meaning, but can denote a powerful relationship between either a man and a woman, a father and son or between friends. A conscious act of devotion and a willingness to stand by that person, principle or force which sustains us, guides us or fills us with energy.
