How to interpret "Radiant Love"

NOTE: This is the "Love I-Ching" interpretation. For standard, non romance-specific I Ching interpretations please return to the reference page here.

This hexagram, which is literally read to mean "Fire in the Heavens," symbolizes the life-giving Sun. The Sun is the source of all energy and life and references the radiant power love and a time of warmth and plenty. A time when you can shine is indicated. The shadows of doubt are forced away by the Sun's positive light. This hexagram carries with it a message to seize this day: Let others see your radiance and glow. It will be noticed. It should also be noted that with new love and light in your life comes the power to do great things and to create positive change in yourself and others. You will be able to help someone during this time. Be wise though: The Sun carries a warning not to create waste, or to use this time for personal gluttony. Be generous and an abundance of love will light your path and the path of another.

Changes in Line 1

"Remain Conscious of Difficulty"

A new relationship, or a new direction in an established relationship, will get off to a promising start. But do not mistake an initial success for experience and mastery. Challenges await. Stay vigilant and you will achieve mastery again down the road.

Changes in Line 2

"The Wagon is Burdened"

This is a time to let go of outdated ideas on romance and love. A "heavy wagon" makes travel difficult and increases the chances of accidents occurring. Write your old limiting ideas on a paper and then throw the paper away or burn it.

Changes in Line 3

"Gratitude for Another"

Thanks should be given for even the smallest of kind gestures from another. Healing and love are indicated for you, especially if you cultivate an attitude of giving and generosity. Be the one that others are grateful for and you will attract true love.

Changes in Line 4

"Don't Make Comparisons"

This line cautions against constantly comparing oneself to others. Constant comparison creates feelings of envy which lead to rash actions, mistakes and ill will. Focus on the tasks before you. Deep love comes not through comparisons but through focus on the goal.

Changes in Line 5

"Sincerity is Returned"

You have a gift to give someone, but not of the material kind. Only the value of true sincerity, presented with honesty and truthfulness, has real value. Approach someone with sincerity and you will be rewarded.

Changes in Line 6

"Assisted by Heaven"

The Universe is conspiring to bring you the deep love you deserve. You will be uplifted at every turn. Your success in relationships in this case will also meet with wide approval from family, friends and strangers alike.

A note on iFate's I Ching translation: This is not a direct translation of the original "Book of Changes" from 1000 BC. While multiple translations of the original text are available, they include many archaic references and can be difficult to understand for 21st century readers. iFate uses our own modern rewritings (two different editions) of the "Book of Changes" which makes interpreting I Ching readings far simpler. For iFate's additional contemporary re-writing of the original text, see our "Love I Ching" translation.
